A tour of the new Always Forward PDF Print E-mail

Since what I’ve created here is much different from what I had before, I’m going to give you a quick tour of the new site. First, you’ll notice that things might take some time to load. That’s because instead of being coded using Dreamweaver, Always Forward runs on Joomla, which is a PHP/MySQL database-based program. This allows me to update the site from anywhere I have an internet connection, or even just from my phone. Joomla is behind most of the cool features of the site. It’s also open-source, which means anyone can download, use, and even modify and sell it.

After many months of thinking about making a new site, thinking about working, and finally, two solid months of learning how to code, coding, and adjusting settings, Always Forward is now online. You’ll find all of the articles from Frozenbullet, plus the promise of more frequent updates and images.

I will be launching a new website in July with a new address. It will be PHP-based, so thus much easier for me to update. The program I'm using will allow me to blog from my new Blackberry 8120! How cool is that? I won't have any excuses then to not update!

After graduating from college in December and finishing the second half of my initial training for the U.S. Army, I am now back in full-time training in Heber City, Utah. The weather has been cold and cloudy since I arrived last Tuesday, but the low pressure system and surface low dropped a decent foot or more of snow in the mountains. By Tuesday, the crust should be back, ready for me to ski again! Yeah!

The past two years, the updates have been hard to come by on here, I know. So what's going on? Well, I enlisted in the Army and have just finished the initial training for that, graduated from college in December... time was a bit limited. Of course, it was all part of a long-term plan. The next step in that plan is the 2008/09 season. Should be interesting! Who knows where it will end?

Last season, I cut it short in mid January in order to go to Basic Training. It'll be the same this season as I will leave February 6 for the second part of initial entry training. It'll be a nine week vacation of sorts in South Carolina at Fort Jackson learning how to process paperwork.

Look to the right and you'll see something that has been lacking around here for a very long, long, time. An update! Yes, and not just one promising a real update soon. A genuine update that I actually used my brain to write! I'm back in Vermont for my final semester at the University of Vermont. Training hard, too.

So it has been a while since I last updated the website, a few people have reminded me. I took a few classes this spring and summer that have kept me pretty busy so far. Things are a bit calmer now that the semester has ended. I intend to revamp the site a bit this month to make it easier and quicker for me to update it.

I've been back from Basic Training for about three weeks now. When I got out, I thought it would take months before I was back in shape; but it only took two weeks! More updates on last season, Basic Training, and what's up next... this weekend when I have more time.

I'm in Vermont, yes, that's right. I skipped World Championships so that I can go to Basic Training for the Army National Guard. I leave on February 12 and won't be back until late April.
