U.S. Olympic Committee

Brian Olsen’s (Bloomington, Minn.) 14th place in the Junior Men's 10K Sprint was by far the best result for the U.S. Biathlon Team during the Youth and Junior World Biathlon Championships in Lanslebourg, Savoie, France.

Sonne Nordgren (Marine on St. Croix, Minn.) led the Americans in the Women's 7.5K Sprint, finishing 28th. Annilies Cook (Saranac Lake, N.Y.) placed 49th while teammate Emilia DeMarchis (Burlington, Vt.) came in 52nd. (Jan. 29)

Winds so strong that they pulled the nailed-down shooting mats from the snow caused the fifth day of competition at the Youth and Junior World Biathlon Championships to be cancelled. (Jan 30) Russell Currier (Caribou, Maine) prevailed on the coldest day so far of the Youth and Junior Biathlon World Championships to move from 35th at the start to 21st place in the Youth Men's 10K Pursuit while Ben Byrne (Bovey, Minn.) finished 22nd.

Kelsy Bouchard (Fort Kent, Maine) was the top U.S. finisher in the Youth Women 7.5K Pursuit, placing 34th. (Jan. 31) The team of Kelsy Bouchard, Kari Lunemann (Cohasset, Minn.) and Brynden Manbeck (Grand Rapids, Minn.) finished seventh in the Youth division, claiming the top U.S. result in the final day of competition at the Youth and Junior World Biathlon Championships.
